Steve “The Voice” Fischer (vocals, guitar) cut his teeth in the music halls all across the state of Louisiana from Generations Hall in New Orleans to the VFW Hall in Brusly. It’s a tough job being the face of The Stumps but somebody has to do it.

Although Steve likes to travel alone, he is often accompanied by Anthony “Big Show” Donado (Bass). Big Show is a multi-instrumentalist who performs in many bands such as Narcissy and The Actioneers around New Orleans and is not afraid to let down his hair from time to time both onstage and off. In his down time, Big Show can be found doing his ventriloquist act at the Big Top in New Orleans.

Mark “Cool Rods” Alexander (drums) keeps the boys rooted in the traditional 4/4 time. Mark honed his craft in the back yard of famed drummer Ginger Baker (one of his many delusional thoughts).

Dalton “Big Daddy Rat” Lambert (guitar and back up vocals), not only plays a mean guitar, but is the cosmic glue that binds this band together, having been friends with all the various members for a combined total of 60 years ~ That’s a long time.

Skipper
And last but certainly not least is “The Anchor” of the band ~ Joe Manuel. We all know that he is a master of all things strings (i.e. guitars, mandolins, lap steels, etc...) but did you know he was the Skipper of the S.S. Minnow. Unfortunatley, we had to leave his little buddy behind on the island to tour the world with The Abita Stumps. Joe is a well known musician on the Northshore playing with the likes of Don Vappie, Tony Green, the Abita Strings and many more. Hell he’s even played the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival! In addition to teaching and performing music, Joe is also a master luthier. Check out his website at www.abitaguitar.com.

warren 2
Always found backstage at a Stumps gig is “Mr. Stump” himself ~ He handles all green room refreshments and assorted amenities for the band. You should try his “Stump Party Package” from Artigues Abita Market (985-892-7300). It’s quite tasty!

It would negligent not to mention the band’s spiritual leader. We follow his lead ~ Always.

Why Stumps?  Why not.
